Deja vu all over again

Just how salacious is the British press? Today over at guardian.com the most read article is about NASA experiments involving astronauts having sex in space (missionary position doesn’t work). I guess there is nothing too surprising about the popularity of the article - except that it is 7 years old.  Astro-naughty.

[UPDATE 12/4] For the second day in a row the most popular story on the most popular newspaper site on the net, is this brilliant combination of smut and high-tech of the sort that the Brits do so well.

Actually it doesn’t have to be smut and high tech, it can be smut and anything. Smut on it’s own doesn’t work so well - only because folks are too embarrassed to be seen reading it. But if the Guardian could get hold of a few frame grabs from the video this story could be recycled every few months.

The Guardian may have hit the mother-lode with this one. An epiphany - news doesn’t have to be new anymore.

Maybe the date on the article is wrong? How could a 7 year old article even be on their website? They didn’t have one 7 years ago.

The Grauniad does have the distinction of printing it’s name incorrectly in the masthead. But I don’t think the date here is a typo. The Guardian links to related archive stories from current news items - not normally such old ones. The BBC does the same. Interestingly I don’t think many of the news sites in the US follow this practice.
